BSc in General Engineering

Computational Thinking

In today’s world, digital skills and computational thinking are essential for engineers, enabling them to work with technologies like programming, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing. However, a lack of these skills is often a barrier to innovation in many industries. To prepare students for the demands of the fourth industrial revolution, the General Engineering cycle at Técnico includes three curricular units, totaling 18 ECTS, dedicated to developing computational thinking. These courses equip students with the digital proficiency needed to harness emerging technologies and excel in the evolving engineering landscape.

The Computational Thinking units – Introduction to Computational Thinking, Data Structures and Algorithms and Introduction to Data Science – will enable students to learn, develop and exercise computational thinking/digital skills that are a critical aspect of modern engineering education.
