BSc in General Engineering

Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences

Engineering is not just about technical expertise—it requires an understanding of the world and the people it serves. Recognizing this, Técnico integrates Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) into its engineering education, helping students develop critical thinking and a broader perspective on their role in society. These disciplines foster reflection on the ethical, social, and economic impacts of engineering, provide insight into political and institutional challenges, and offer essential training in innovation and entrepreneurship. By incorporating HASS, Técnico prepares engineers to navigate complex global challenges with a well-rounded and informed approach.

The HASS units – Introductory Economics, Management and a HASS elective offered by the Faculdade de Letras of the University of Lisbon- complement the teaching of Science and Engineering by exposing students to the humanities, arts and social sciences.
