BSc in General Engineering

Engineering Electives

The Engineering Electives enable students to tailor the curriculum according to their aspirations. As represented in the schematic figure below, midway across their curriculum, students will be confronted with two significant paths – A. Future Engineering Technologies (FET) and B. Customized pathways. Different tracks can be constructed within each path by combining curricular units and/or minors. The FET pathways enable students to explore future emerging technologies that are expected to change the world as we know it radically. These FET tracks privilege the visionary aspects and exploratory nature of advanced multidisciplinary science and cutting-edge engineering, and will constitute the trademark of the GENI course. Customized pathways allow students to select more traditional engineering fields or maintain the broad nature of their training. A set of customised pathways focused on specific branches of engineering were outlined by the commission and further validated by the coordinators of 28 Masters of Técnico as being compatible with the enrollment in those degrees.
