Engineering Projects, Seminars and Internships
The Engineering Projects, Seminars and Internships units engage students in real-world engineering and design challenges, providing the opportunity to develop human skills and broader competences.
- Engineering projects are projects to be preferably developed in a team that can be of the following modalities: i) a Capstone project (including 3 ECTS of Management / Innovation / Entrepreneurship), ii) work in a Research Unit, or iii) work in a business environment. They offer the student the chance to integrate the various subjects learned, to work in a team, to explore new scientific and technological subjects of an inter- and / or intra-disciplinary nature, and to enhance his skills with economic, social, and industrial impacts, contributing to the training in innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Seminars are public presentations on an advanced topic. They involve the student’s preparation, presentation, and discussion of a selected subject. Seminars are expected to improve the oral/written academic and professional communication and ethical aspects and promote skills in structuring documents (articles, dissertations, reports, minutes, etc.).
- Internships in companies, laboratories, or research groups play a central role in the students’ soft skills development and more practical engineering training. They are an essential opportunity for improving the students’ knowledge of business and research reality, applying acquired skills in a new environment, and providing an occasion for companies and research groups to contact students. The integration of a work team and the contact with new challenges daily should complement academic formation and give new perspectives to the subjects learned. Internships last between two weeks and two months.
The availability of Engineering projects and Internships is guaranteed by Técnico’s Research Units and Technology Transfer Office.
